Budget Wedding Photographer = Quality Wedding Photography?
Hire a Professional Wedding Photographer
Always hire a professional wedding photographer! There are plenty of local, and national photographers that will be happy to photograph your wedding. There are so many full time and part time wedding photographers out there you should not have a hard time finding one you like and that is available on your wedding day. When hiring a wedding photographer start searching as early as a year in advance. There are millions of couples that get married each year, most on weekends. The sooner you book your wedding photographer the sooner you no longer have to worry if one will be available on your big day.
Full time
Full time wedding photographers are preferred to part time wedding photographers. Full time wedding photographers make a living from the income they get shooting weddings. They keep their equipment in top working order and their talent fresh and there is no worry of their “other” job unexpectedly conflicting with your wedding schedule.
Part time
Part time wedding photographers are better than a photo hobbyist or a student photographer. They probably work a Monday through Friday job and shoot a few weddings a year on weekends, but they know all about wedding photography, which is important because in wedding photography there are no re-shoots.
Hire an Amateur Wedding Photographer
Ok, so you are having a backyard wedding with just some close family and you absolutely do not have the money for a photographer, DJ, florist, or even a caterer. First try to find a professional wedding photographer that will only show up for formals at a low price. If no professional full time or part time photographer in your area is available for your wedding date or you just can not find one in your budget then try to find a photography hobbyist, or student photographer. Make sure you sign a contract for their services, be warned they may or may not have a contract of their own.
Having friends or family members photograph your wedding
This option is usually the least desirable, and highly discouraged. Family members and friends should enjoy your wedding not be burdened with photographing it. Professional wedding photographer or not, it is not a good idea to ask a family member or guest to shoot your wedding. The photographer is the only person responsible for great-looking-no-mistakes photos from the time your ceremony starts to the time the reception ends. Make sure this person is there ONLY to give you the best pictures possible for a lifetime of great memories and NOT to enjoy themselves and miss picture perfect moments while they are sipping champagne and dancing.
